Couples Reconnecting
Can you relate to the following questions?
How can my partner and I develop a deeper sense of connection with each other?
How can I and my partner communicate our needs and concerns without inviting defensiveness in each other?
How can my partner and I keep from slipping into the same negative relationship patterns?
How can I and my partner regain a sense of trust and safety in our relationship, particularly after a recent betrayal?
Guidance through Couples Therapy

Strain in a couple’s relationship can have a far reaching impact on other aspects of one’s life. This strain is often influenced by one or both partners' needs not being validated. Eventually, this repeated dynamic leads to expressions of frustration in an attempt to be seen and to find more connection with one’s partner. These dynamics tend to create increasingly negative relationship cycles that can become difficult to avoid and resolve.
My approach in Couples Counseling draws largely from training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) (https://iceeft.com/) as well as training from The Gottman Institute (https://www.gottman.com/). I create an environment of safety where both partners’ needs and desires are validated, thus inviting the de-escalation of defensiveness. In addition, each partner is guided in expressing their needs and concerns in a way that invites empathy and connection, while their partner is invited to provide understanding and support. With enhanced vulnerability in conversations, the couple is increasingly equipped to address concerns in a more productive and attuned manner. I look forward to assisting you in developing a deeper connection in your couple’s relationship.
